Bakula Filming 'The Informant'

The locals of Decatur, Illinois enjoyed the presence of a smiling and relaxed Scott Bakula working in the forthcoming The Informant.

As reported by the Chicago Tribune Bakula is playing Brian Shepard, a FBI handler in The Informant. The Informant is a film about a corporate-hotshot-turned-FBI-mole, Mark Whitacre, who blew the whistle on a price-fixing scam by high-level executives at Archer Daniels Midland Company of Decatur, Illinois, while at the same time embezzling nine million dollars under the nose of the FBI handler being played by Bakula.

Although Decatur disliked the scandal at the time, the citizens have lined up to be extras in the movie and have enjoyed the benefits of having movie stars in the neighborhood. "Matt Damon was standing right there in my driveway!" said one of the citizens. Damon is playing Whitacre.

After filming wrapped, Bakula strolled around the neighborhood according to The Matt Damon Column. "We’re having a ball,” said Bakula. “We are truly having a ball." Pictures and a video as seen here show the relaxed Bakula talking and laughing.

The Informant opens in March of 2009.
