New aliens, new crew members and a new look for T'Pol are just some of the developments that have already been promised for Enterprise's third season, and viewers can now expect to see Hoshi Sato come into her element next year.

Speaking in the latest UK edition of Star Trek Monthly (via Sci-Fi Pulse), executive producer Rick Berman revealed plans to develop the communications officer further.

"We'd like very much to expand more on Hoshi. I think that the idea that she's an insecure linguist who finds herself on this ship is getting less and less play. We had enough of that in the first and second season."

Hoshi stepped into the spotlight in "Vanishing Point" earlier this season, but hasn't been featured as much as some of the other characters in subsequent outings. According to Berman, this too will change. "She's going to become a bit more seasoned and hopefully we'll get a lot more use of her. Linda is a really lovely actress."

The full interview with Berman, in which he also talked about this season's finale, "The Expanse", as well as the Star Trek Nemesis DVD, can be found in issue 105 of Star Trek Monthly. Alternatively, excerpts are available at Sci-Fi Pulse.
