The Enterprise writing team has gained a fresh face to replace the staffers who left over the summer hiatus, and he's a Trek fan to boot.

David A. Goodman has joined the staff as consulting producer effective from last night's episode 'The Communicator', according to Psi Phi. The writer's first Enterprise script will be 'Precious Cargo', which he wrote based on a story by executive producers Rick Berman and Brannon Braga.

Goodman created and served as executive producer of the short-lived genre series Team Knight Rider with Rick Copp. His other credits include comedies The Golden Girls, Wings and Flying Blind, as well as the TV movie 'The Adventures of Captain Zoom in Outer Space.'

In a 1997 chat about Team Knight Rider, Goodman said he was a Star Trek fan, which would explain his Futurama episode, entitled 'Where No Fan Has Gone Before.' Chock-full of Trek references, the animated outing sees Fry put on trial for travelling to Omega 3, the planet to which all things Star Trek were banished after fans started corrupting the government. The episode also featured guest voice appearances by William Shatner (James T. Kirk), Leonard Nimoy (Spock), Walter Koenig (Pavel Chekov), George Takei (Hikaru Sulu) and Nichelle Nichols (Uhura).

'Precious Cargo' is currently scheduled to air on December 11. The original news can be found here at Psi Phi.
