Hello World!

It's funny how weekends work. Saturday I was about to go to bed when I did one final check of the most important news sources, and suddenly what might well be the two most surprising news stories of the month had appeared.

UPN's sudden problems were something I really hadn't expected. With the retitling to Paramount Network and Viacom possibly buying Chris-Craft, I thought the network finally had a good future ahead of itself. If it really closes down in a few months, that'll certainly be anti-climactic.

But personally I found the announcement about Decipher acquiring the Trek RPG license a lot more surprising. I don't think anyone at Last Unicorn Games or Wizards of the Coast had counted on this, or else WotC probably wouldn't have bought LUG. There's a large list of upcoming releases on the Last Unicorn site, and it's a great pity those probably won't be published after all.
