John Billingsley (Phlox) today said that he hasn't given up on more romance for his character after his wives were introduced in 'Dear Doctor'.

"Now that the wives are home on Denobula and safely out of reach?" Billingsley told Jeff Y at Trek 5. He added that he'd like to see crewman Cutler return. "I hope so, because she's a charming gal - a great lady.

"But really what I'd like is to have my real wife [Bonita Frederici] play all three of my Denobulan wives - because of the residuals!"

The actor went on to talk about how he watched other Star Trek doctors at work. "I was a fan of the first show, and I watched a bunch of Next Generations," he said. "I kind of fell off the wagon a bit on Deep Space Nine though. It felt like one of those shows where you really needed to appreciate the back story. I think what the producers have done with our show is that they've allowed you to drop in and drop out, and I think to actually generate a really strong audience base you have to be able to do that."

With the first season of Enterprise in the can, Billingsley still didn't feel like a big star. "It's funny really, I think my wife expected it was going to be some kind of radical transformation — and it hasn't been," he laughed. "I mean other than having money — which is great; I spent 20 years not having any — it's really not that different."
