Voyager Ratings Slowly Climb Again

By Christian
February 14, 2001 - 1:11 PM

After achieving its lowest-ever ratings two weeks in a row, Voyager's national ratings finally began climbing again with 'Repentance', while overnight ratings for 'Prophecy' indicate the rise may continue even further.

According to a report posted at the Star Trek Nielsen Ratings Information Database, 'Lineage' again scored a 2.8 rating, but 'Repentance' did improve:

Despite achieving lower overnights, 'Repentance' finally managed to improve Voyager's ratings a bit, rising one tenth of a ratings point to a 2.9 rating / 4 share. Of course, that still makes the show the fourth lowest-rated of the season, but it at least is an improvement. With 'Prophecy' getting a much higher overnight rating than 'Repentance', Voyager's immediate future is now finally looking a bit more positive again. Hopefully that episode will continue to show some improvement, which would mean a good start for Voyager's February sweeps.

Full national ratings reports for 'Lineage' and 'Repentance' can be found on the site.

As mentioned in the national ratings report, the improvement for 'Repentance' was rather surprising, as it actually achieved lower overnight ratings than 'Lineage'. Overnight ratings are the ratings from the top 47 television markets in the country, and are used as an indication for the final ratings - for Voyager the overnights are usually quite a bit higher.

'Repentance' had an overnight rating of 4.4/6, a tenth of a point lower than 'Lineage', but a week later 'Prophecy' actually took in some fairly decent ratings:

With 'Prophecy', Voyager's ratings finally began climbing again, as the show took in a 4.9 rating, 7 share, half a ratings point higher than last week's 'Repentance' ratings. For the hour, Voyager was still fifth, taking in almost twice the ratings of 'Jack & Jill' on the WB (2.5/4). CBS had a 6.7/10 with the film 'Jewel', while NBC's 'The West Wing' won the timeslot with a 14.5/21.

The site of course also has full overnight reports for 'Repentance' and 'Prophecy'.

National ratings for 'Prophecy' should be available sometime today or tomorrow at the Nielsen Ratings Information Database. With the episode being the first Voyager episode in the February sweeps, hopefully it will be able to be a bit more successful in the ratings.
