Motion Picture Effects Supervisor To Chat Live

The man behind the acclaimed visual effects on the new Star Trek: The Motion Picture: The Director's Edition will be chatting live and answering questions this Friday.

Daren Dochterman will be in the Trek Nation chat room to answer questions from other participants. He'll be in the room from 5 p.m PST this Friday, December 14th.

Dochterman worked on the Motion Picture Director's Edition as visual effects supervisor, involved in the creation of the brand new enhanced visual effects on the special edition. In 1995, he did some illustration work on the Voyager pilot episode 'Caretaker.'

His involvement with the Trek franchise doesn't end here. Dochterman appeared in the Denise Crosby (Tasha Yar) project 'Trekkies' as himself. He also had a role in front of the camera as Tiberius in 'Free Enterprise' the film focusing on two Trek fans and starring William Shatner (James T. Kirk).

Dochterman's main area of work has been in the art department of many movies. He worked as a production illustrator on the season film 'How the Grinch Stole Christmas' and on 'The Flintstones: Viva Rock Vegas.' He's worked as a storyboard artist for many other films and TV Series, including 'Flubber' and 'Adams Family Values.'
