Trek Stars Entertain Fans At The Galaxy Ball

This weekend saw the fourth annual Galaxy Ball, hosted by Voyager's Robert Beltran (Chakotay) in aid of several charities. The event featured appearances by guest actors from the Next Generation, Deep Space Nine and Voyager. Several reports about the event have now appeared online.

First up on stage were Patrick Stewart (Jean-Luc Picard), Jonathan Frakes (William Riker), Brent Spiner (Data) and Will Wheaton (Wesley Crusher). According to one attendee, they had a lot of fun joking around with one another.

"Lots of fun ribbing and picking on with one another, but they all seem to get along fine," wrote Chasteless at the Official Robert Beltran Message Board. "Mr Frakes, at one point, had gotten a little excited about what he had to say. He looked down the row of 4 chairs which the actors were using and asked, referring to Mr. Stewart, 'I'm sorry I can't remember your name!' Later Mr Stewart returned the insult, oops I mean favour, when he asked Mr. Frakes, 'Excuse and your are who?.'

Jacqueline Bundy of the Trekker Newsletter related a funny story told by Stewart. "Mr. Stewart also told the audience about buying what was only his second new car ever at the end of the first season of TNG," she wrote. "He spoke of how enthusiastic he was, how carefully he considered what type of car he wanted and how he agonised over the choice of colour. He settled on a white Honda Prelude and proudly drove it to the Paramount lot for the first time. While showing off the car someone asked him if he'd seen Will Wheaton's new car yet, which he had not. It turned out that Wheaton had also just bought a Honda Prelude in metallic blue, but Will's was an upgraded model. Wheaton rubbed it in for a few moments but Patrick Stewart had the last word when he asked Will if he'd like to go out to the car park and compare cars now."

Next up were Rene Auberjonois (Odo) and Aron Eisenberg (Nog) from the Deep Space Nine cast. "DS9's Rene Auberjonois had various caricatures available during the signing that showed amazing skill," wrote Sara on the Official Robert Beltran Message Board. "Oh, yes, and Aron Eisenberg did the 'Ferengi Love Dance' once more - after making a member of the audience perform it first."

Three members of the Voyager cast completed the event: Roxann Dawson (B'Elanna Torres), Robert Picardo (The Holodoc), and Robert Beltran (Chakotay).

"Asked what projects they currently have in the works, Robert Picardo said that he is about to start shooting an episode of the sitcom Frasier," wrote TTN's Jacqueline Bundy. "Roxann Dawson said she is going to be directing an episode of Any Day Now and has been putting the finishing touches on the 3rd book in her 'Tenebrea' trilogy. Robert Beltran is currently writing a play."

The Voyager cast also demonstrated their talents that evening at the cabaret. Roxann Dawson took the microphone and explained that after returning to earth, Tom Paris left B'Elanna alone to raise their child. Jacqueline Bundy explained: "Left her a single mother try to cope with raising their child on her own. Saying 'This one's for you Tom' she belted out 'I Will Survive' much to the delight of the audience."
