Berman, Montgomery Talk Season Three

"It’s going in a very mysterious and exciting direction," executive producer Rick Berman said of next season's Enterprise.

Speaking to the new British genre magazine Icon in an interview excerpted at TrekWeb, Berman said that the changes on the show won't affect the fundamental makeup of the characters.

"The crew will have been hardened to some degree, but they’re still Star Trek characters and they’re still on a path that’s going towards the Starfleet people that we know are going to exist in 100 years beyond them," he noted.

He also promised a familiar Trek approach to storytelling to go along with the mysterious new spatial anomalies of the Expanse: "We have episodes that are going to deal with planets that have Western-like Humans living on them."

Anthony Montgomery, interviewed in the same issue, spoke about Mayweather's development and his hopes for next season.

"Travis is going to exert and exude a lot more confidence over this next season," he said. "I have a feeling that they’re going to have him step up into some commanding roles in various situations."

The original transcript may be found at TrekWeb. The full article in the new issue of Icon includes some comments by Berman about the original casting of Genevieve Bujold as Captain Janeway on Star Trek: Voyager.
