A new documentary film, The Occupation of Bajor, chronicles the history of the Bajoran people from the Cardassian arrival in 2318 to their departure in 2369.

StarTrek.com has posted the new feature, which consists mostly of scenes and photos from episodes featuring the Bajorans, including Ro Laren, Kira Nerys, Kai Opaka and the many others who appeared in Star Trek: The Next Generation and Star Trek: Deep Space Nine. New illustrations and a voice-over chronicling the fictional history in this "exclusive video documentary" explore the events of the Occupation in a television newsmagazine-type format.

"They were a beacon of civilization until the Cardassians arrived and enslaved them on their own homeworld," notes the promotion. "For 40 years, the people of Bajor endured the devastation of their land and culture. But from their pain emerged an unparalleled strength and resolve."

The official Star Trek web site is also providing a preview of upcoming events including live coverage from the Las Vegas convention featuring four of the five captains and dozens of other guests (story).

Tomorrow, in honour of the release of Enterprise on DVD, the site will host a viewing party for the Enterprise episode "Shuttlepod One", in which fans around the world can participate in live chat while simultaneously watching the episode on DVD at 7:00 p.m. GMT or 9:00 p.m. EST. Several participants will be selected to win prizes from the site.

The discussion will take place in StarTrek.com's Lounge. Browsers must be java-enabled to participate.
