'Nemesis' has claimed another first place position in the box office after it premiered in Australia last week.

This is the second major market the film has taken the #1 spot in, following in the footsteps of Germany recently (story) where the film knocked down 'Lord of the Rings' to take the top spot. These come after 'Nemesis' was denied the #1 spot in the US and UK by 'Maid in Manhattan' and 'Lord of the Rings' respectively.

Yahoo News! reports that the film took approximately $788,000 on its release, showing in 177 Australian theatres.

Meanwhile, according to IMDb Pro, dropping out of the top 15 at the end of January 'Nemesis' had taken around £4,666,630 (approx. $7.5m) in the UK. In Germany it had picked up $5,369,226 by the date. And in the US, in just 110 theatres for the week ending February 7, the film took another $32k taking its total US haul to $42,869,492.
