Brent Spiner (Data) this week joined the cast of the Broadway play Life x 3.

Spiner replaces actor David Lansbury in the role of Hubert, Broadway.com reported. Lansbury left the production after only one week of rehearsal "by mutual agreement between the production and the actor."

Written by Yasmina Reza, Life x 3 centres around a married couple, Sonia and Henri, who have invited Henri's boss, Hubert, and his wife, Ines, over for a dinner party in order to impress them. However, things don't go as planned when Hubert and Ines turn up for dinner a day early, and all Sonia and Henri have to feed them is a packet of Cheesy Wotsits and a packet of chocolate biscuits! The play explores three possible outcomes from this potentially disastrous situation.

Academy Award-winner Helen Hunt ('As Good As It Gets,' Mad About You) will star as Sonia, with 'Quiz Show' actor John Turturro as Henry. Linda Emond is set to play Ines to Spiner's Hubert; the two previously performed together in the Broadway version of 1776. Life x 3 will be directed by Matthew Warchus, who staged Art and True West.

Spiner has had a successful stage career in addition to his television and film roles, appearing in 1776, Big River, The Three Musketeers, Sunday in the Park with George and A History of the American Film on Broadway.

Previews for Life x 3 begin at the Circle in the Square Theatre on March 11. Further information can be found at Playbill and Broadway.com.
