'Author, Author' Synopsis & Cast Info

After Robert Picardo last year became the first Voyager cast member to sell a story to the show, it now seems the character he plays will be following his example, as in an upcoming Voyager episode the Holodoc will attempt to sell a holo-novel to publishers.

The title of the episode is 'Author, Author', and its story was written by Brannon Braga, with a teleplay by Phyllis Strong and Mike Sussman and direction by David Livingston. Here's how the official Star Trek site summarises the show:

As the U.S.S. Voyager gets closer and closer to the Alpha Quadrant, a new means of direct yet brief communication with Starfleet is established, allowing the crew a few minutes each to communicate with family and friends. The Doctor may not have any family or friends on Earth, but he does have a holo-novel to pitch to publishers — the story of a ship stranded on the other side of the galaxy with a strangely familiar crew; a crew that barely tolerates their holographic doctor who lives in virtual slavery...

Though the Doctor does not have any family or friends on Earth, the rest of the crew certainly do, and from the character list placed on the official site it seems we might actually see some of those for the first time. Take a look:

  • Dwight Schultz as Reginald Barclay
  • Richard Herd as Admiral Paris
  • Irene Tsu as Mary Kim
  • Robert Ito as John Kim
  • Juan Garcia as John Torres
  • Barry Gordon as Broht
  • Joseph Campanella as Arbitatror
  • Lorinne Vozoff as Irene Hansen
Full details on this episode, which will likely air sometime in April, can be found at the official site.
