Interplay today announced that it has begun shipping their new space strategy game, 'Starfleet Command Volume II - Empires At War', to retail outlets throughout the country. SFC 2 was developed by new studio Taldren, founded by the creators of the well-received original 'Starfleet Command' game.

Again based on the classic 'Starfleet Battles' game, Interplay claims the sequel has several improvements over the original. In particular, it now also features the new races the Mirak Star League and the Interstellar Concordium, but also things like a completely new campaign game and a redesigned fleet control interface. Like the original, 'Starfleet Command II' allows multiplayer games to be played over the internet via the MPlayer service.

'Starfleet Command Volume 2: Empires At War' is now available at retail stores for a recommended retail price of $44.95, or here at Amazon.com. More information on the game itself can be found at great fan site the Starfleet Universe.
