'Enterprise' Crew Continues To Grow

Now that Enterprise has been officially announced by Paramount, the official site has posted details of the latest crew-members who have signed on to create the look of the latest series.

Joining the Art Department are James Martin, Anthony Fredrickson and Denise Okuda. Previously announced art staffers include ship-designer John Eaves, Junior Illustrator Doug Drexler and Scenic Arts Superviser Michael Okuda.

Okuda worked as a Scenic Artist on Deep Space Nine and the last four movies, as well as serving as Video Supervisor on Voyager. Prior to working on Star Trek, she did promotional work for The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai: Across the Eighth Dimension. Having a nursing degree also comes in handy; Okuda has often stepped in and provided her services as a medical consultant on the various series. Additionally, Okuda co-wrote the Star Trek Encyclopedia.

The other new staffers are no strangers to Trek either. Martin was an Illustrator on Deep Space Nine and Voyager and Frederickson served as Scenic artist on Deep Space Nine as well as the TNG feature films.

A master of all things textile, and a veteran crew-member to boot, Jim Mees has joined the staff as Set Decorator. Prior to his work on television, Mees served as Assistant Art Director on several concert productions including the world tours of The Beach Boys and Diana Ross. Breaking into television production, he worked on The Laurence Welk Show and several sitcoms, including Who's the Boss? After the feature film Second Serve, Mees joined the crew of The Next Generation, and he became part of the team that won an Emmy Award in 1990 for Outstanding Art Direction for 'Sins of the Father.' Mees also worked on Voyager for five years before joining the staff of Enterprise.

Robert Blackman, creator of all Starfleet uniforms from the third season of The Next Generation, has signed on as Costume Designer. In addition to his work for Trek over three series, for which he has won two Emmy awards, Blackman is a seasoned costumer of stage and screeen. He has worked on the plays 'Cyrano de Bergerac,' 'Richard III' and 'The Crucible,' as well as the films Running Man, and Night Mother.

Having created coiffures for many years on The Next Generation and Deep Space Nine, Michael Moore returned as Hair Stylist.

Newcomer Craig Binkley has also joined up for a tour of duty on Enterprise, as Property Master. Although he is a new face on the Trek scene, Blinkley is no stranger to show-business, having worked in the industry since 1954. His credits as Property Master range from Lassie and The Waltons to L.A. Law and Law & Order. He replaces long-time Trek Property Master Alan Sims.
