John Billingsley (Phlox) has two new projects in the works: a fall television series and a Sci Fi Channel movie.

The Futon Critic reports that Billingsley has joined the cast of Nine Lives, a new ABC series from Warner Bros. for the fall. The Enterprise actor will be part of an ensemble about nine strangers who share a bond after being hostages together during a bank robbery gone wrong.

Owain Yeoman of Kitchen Confidential has also joined the cast, which also includes Lourdes Benedicto, Jessica Collins and Chi McBride. Alex Graves will direct the pilot from a script by creators Hank Steinberg and K.J. Steinberg.

In addition, Fangoria reports that Billingsley - as well as Armin Shimerman (Quark) - appears in Dead & Deader, an action/comedy about a part-human/part-zombie special forces officer trying to stop an infection that would turn the rest of humankind into flesh-eating ghouls. The screenplay is co-written by Mark A. Altman, who described the film as "the most fun I've had making a movie since Free Enterprise," which he co-wrote. "We have a great cast...I've wanted to get back to doing comedy for a while now, and even though Dead & Deader is first and foremost a horror/sci-fi film, there’s a healthy dose of humor as well."

Dead & Deader also stars Lois and Clark's Dean Cain, plus Susan Ward, Guy Torry and The X-Files' Dean Haglund. The director is former visual FX supervisor Patrick Dinhut. More information is available in the print edition of Fangoria magzine, issue #251 of which is on sale this month.
