Hello World!

I'm hard at work on my reports from the Las Vegas Star Trek convention right now, but I thought I'd use this column to share some of the things that won't make it into my report--a few random sightings that I thought I'd share from the convention weekend.

On Friday, after a three hour plus flight to Las Vegas, my friend and I boarded a shuttle for the main wing of the airport. When we stepped onto the shuttle, my friend noticed a Trek star standing right across from us! It was none other than Brent Spiner--Data himself, not ten feet away from us! Though I thought we handled it well, Mr. Spiner did notice us checking him out. My friend gave him the manly nod, and I smiled at him, twice. Nothing. He was like ice. Keeping our excitement in check, my friend and I decided not to say anything, since it seemed clear he didn't want to be bothered. But come on, Brent--would a smile have killed you?

Trek's cutest couple of the minute has to be Linda Park and Tom Hardy. Hoshi and Shinzon looked like any cute, cozy young couple out for a stroll when I spotted them in the Hilton's casino on Sunday after they both finished up on stage. Linda even mentioned Tom a couple of times on stage. She said she spoke French, but that her boyfriend spoke it much better, and that Tom rapped.

Folks, little Jake Sisko is all grown up! We spotted the very handsome, very tall (I believe he's 6'4") Cirroc Lofton at The Rum Jungle, a strip hot spot, on Saturday night after his appearance on the stage. We thought about approaching him to say hello, but ultimately decided against it. Luckily it was early in the evening, or we might not have come to such a sound decision.
