Hello World!

Well. Its certainly been all go here at TT today. Enterprise finally gets official confirmation and a flurry of interest that's had us swept right along in it.

I for one am relieved. No more will Christian go offline for a few hours, stridently telling me to keep my ears open for the Big Announcement while he's gone.

Though I must wonder what ever possessed Paramount to send out a press release on this when we European Trek Today editors were tucked up in bed asleep like all sensible Europeans were at that time in the morning. It was most inconsiderate.

I really with Christian would consider getting some Trek Today office space so we could be on call to catch these things. I once saw a most suitable building near Buckingham Palace in London, ideally situated for the Forbidden Planet Sci Fi shop on the Tottenham Court Road. Australian Caillan, of course, wasn't keen, claiming that London is far too cold and wet, and urging Christian to consider a nice Pacific island. Not sure how I feel about that one. My English complexion would burn too easily in such heat, not to mention the fact that chocolate wouldn't last more than a few minutes. Of course, chocolate doesn't last more than a few minutes around me anyway, but that usually has nothing to do with the weather.

Of course, I also wish Christian would consider Trek Today company cars, luncheon vouchers and PlayStation 2's but for some reason he doesn't seem keen. I can't imagine why.

Trek BBS Today

Due to the fact that the poor server is having difficulty with the number of people trying to read the Enterprise news, I hope you'll forgive me for the lack of Trek BBS information today. Instead, I'll provide you with a link to the new Enterprise forum, and encourage you to go along and join in.

Trek Two Years Ago

    • No Cuts In Canada

Trek Today revealed that although UPN had been cutting nearly two minutes from Voyager episodes in the US, Canadian broadcasts of the episodes included the missing scenes. Presumably these two minutes have been restored in later syndicated broadcasts. Thankfully my own UK video tapes have the episodes intact.

    • Insurrection DVD & Rental Released

Today two years ago 'Star Trek:Insurrection' was released on video and DVD in the US. Christian, of course, complained vehemently about it being years before he would get to see it in The Netherlands. I'm sure that now, two years later, he can recite the script backwards.

    • Voyager Hazard Team Is No More

Raven Software changed the name of the Voyager game it was developing to 'Voyager Eclipse Force.' Two years later, we know the title turned out to be the game we all know and love -- even if it does bring my Cyrix 366 and Voodoo III to its knees -- 'Voyager Elite Force.' Which reminds me. I simply must have the Elite Force expansion pack that is released next week. What Janewayite wouldn't relish the thought of being able to explore the Captain's quarters?
