TV Guide has released more information and the first images of its special Star Trek Magazine covers due out next week.

Each special edition will feature characters from either the Original Series, the Next Generation, Deep Space Nine, Voyager or Enterprise. The collection makes up six interlocking sets - one for each series, with the sixth featuring three Star Trek villains.

In addition, the cover story inside the magazine will name the 35 greatest moments in Star Trek history. One for each year of the franchise, the feature will revisit and celebrate moments like Riker's ordering the Enterprise to fire upon Captain Picard from 'The Best of Both Worlds.'

'Special Edition Captain Archer TV Guide Cover, copyright Entertainment Tonight TV Guide has also organised a special charity auction involving the special covers. Starting from next week, a cover featuring one of the five Captains and autographed by the starring actor will be auctioned on eBay. First up will be Scott Bakula's Jonathan Archer, followed by Kate Mulgrew (Kathryn Janeway), Avery Brooks (Ben Sisko), Patrick Stewart (Jean Luc Picard), and finally William Shatner (James T Kirk). The proceeds from the auctions will benefit talk show host Rosie O'Donnell's 'For All Kids Foundation.'

Though the special covers were organised to mark the 35th Anniversary of Star Trek, they also represent something of a landmark for TV Guide. Star Trek inspired the magazine's first set of multiple collectable covers in August 1996. The 35 different covers will be TV Guide's biggest special edition, beating the previous total of 24 covers celebrating The Simpsons.

The special Star Trek edition TV Guide will go on sale on April 15th - it's the April 20th edition. More information on the special events can be found at the TV Guide web site.
