Chris Doohan, the son of actor James Doohan (Scotty), will appear on a new VH1 reality series with the band in which he played at his father's final convention.

The younger Doohan turns up on Breaking Bonaduce on Sunday, September 11th in an episode involving his band the Muddflaps as well as Danny Bonaduce's wife Gretchen. "I've known Danny since we were about 13 years old," Doohan told the Trek Nation. "Gretchen Bonaduce and I are the lead singers of the Muddflaps. On Breaking Bonaduce the band plays at club in Burbank, California to a sold out crowd. A lot more happens, but I'm sworn to secrecy."

The Muddflaps played at James Doohan's farewell convention for about an hour and a half to a crowd of about 300. "Danny was there supporting his wife as well as most of the original cast of Star Trek," recalled Chris Doohan. "Overall, the crowd seemed to like us, although I think a few of our harder rock songs may have been too much for some of the older Trek fans."

Chris Doohan also chimed in on the debate about Scotty's future birthplace, saying that he believes Linlithgow has the upper hand over Aberdeen, Elgin and other Scottish cities. "My Father once told me that that was his birthplace and his wife Wende confirms that," declared the son. "I heard that they want to build a 'Space Park' or some kind of memorial to my Father. This would be a wonderful tribute."

Doohan believes that he will appear in episode three of Breaking Bonaduce but says that he will appear for certain in episode one, which airs tomorrow night at 10:30 p.m. Eastern time on VH1. "I think viewers will find it to be extremely funny," he said. "Let's just say that there is a hot and heavy argument between Danny and I, which involves his wife, Gretchen...I've known Danny since we were kids and we shared some pretty great times. From streaking to a convenience store, to crashing Sonny Bono's car during the filming of Murder on flight 502."

More information about Chris Doohan may be found at The Internet Movie Database.
