Kate Mulgrew (Janeway)'s The Black Donnellys may have been cancelled by NBC after making a poor showing in the ratings, but its fans have not given up on it. They are campaigning the network to save the series, which will be released on DVD in September.

StarTrek.com followed up on a Los Angeles Times story about fans sending crackers - nearly 300 pounds or 45,000 Zesta crackers - to HBO executives to draw attention to the show, hoping that The Sopranos cable network might pick up the show. Zesta crackers were featured on a lounge sign on The Black Donnellys.

The campaign has a web site, Save 'The Black Donnellys', inspired by Jericho fans whose sending nuts to CBS pressured the network successfully to keep that show on the air. Fans have attempted similar campaigns with hot sauce for Roswell and baby food for The Family Guy.

Meanwhile, NBC has aired the existing episodes on its web site and will release the series in a three-DVD set on September 4th, according to TV Shows on DVD. The set may be pre-ordered from Amazon.com.

Mulgrew, meanwhile, has moved on to other projects. She will play Clytemnestra in Iphigenia 2.0 for New York's Signature Theatre Company beginning on August 7th. Thanks to Totally Kate! for the news.
