Hello World!

When we published the Series V casting sheet two months ago, we also added a new feature to the Site Manager that allowed us to select a Top Story for the day - we wanted to avoid having, say, the latest Gaming Bullets or Site Columns be the first thing people saw, instead of the casting sheet.

While the feature has turned out to be very useful over the past months, today we were faced with a bit of a problem when it turned out there were three stories who would normally all be worthy of being a Top Story - the Star Trek X script review, the Voyager finale info and the Series V timeslot prediction. This may well be the first day on which there's major news for all three major upcoming Trek projects - it certainly places a lot of pressure on us.

Of course, I do wonder how long it will be possible to keep up the kind of news frenzy the online Trek world has been in for the past two months. Surely after the finale has aired and Series V is officially announced things have to die down a little?

Trek Two Years Ago

Below are some of the most important headlines that appeared on TrekToday on Sunday the 9th of May, 1999:

  • Last 3 DS9 Episodes Credits - The final Deep Space Nine episode credits became known on this day, as we posted the list of writers and directors for 'Extreme Measures,' 'The Dogs Of War' and 'What You Leave Behind.'

  • Insurrection DVD Review - We posted a link to one of the first reviews of the 'Insurrection' DVD, which was scheduled to be released two days later. This was also the first news item that we were pointed to by Jeff 'Koganuts' Koga, one of TrekToday's most frequent and long-time contributors.

  • Hello World! - What eventually would turn out to be the most popular television series ever conceived in the Netherlands was announced exactly two years ago: 'Big Brother.' At the time I mostly complained about the show's concept being incredibly "sick and twisted," not yet realising that it could also turn out to be immenselly boring.
