Hello World!

Apparently, the latest cybernetic craze is something called 'Googlewhacking.' It involves typing two words into Google in the hope that you'll only get one search result.

Eager to see how hard it was, I typed "perseid greybeard" into the search engine and came up with only one result. Score! However, I failed miserably with "sumerian igloo" and "Janeway earwax." Even "than triceratops" came up with several entries.

Trek Two Years Ago

These were some of the major news items on February 9, 2000:

  • Mania Interviews Combs
Jeffrey Combs (Weyoun) talked with Michelle Erica Green about appearing in the Voyager episode 'Tsunkatse' with WWF star The Rock.

You know The Rock is very physical, and Jeri can move pretty well, and for the really difficult fight stuff they got an incredible match for her. Of course, J.G. [Hertzler] has a presence, and he was pretty well covered in makeup so he was well doubled too. It was being shot really well too. Mike Vejar, who did a lot of DS9 stuff, directed. Boy, they've really been pushing this one!

The full interview can still be found here.

  • More On UPN Lawsuit
On February 8, Chris-Craft industries filed a lawsuit against Viacom in order to try and stop the media giant gaining control of CBS. At the time, Chris-Craft and Viacom were joint owners of UPN, but the original contract stated that either partner could not own or control a competing network. In the end, Viacom bought Chris-Craft's stake in UPN and acquired CBS too.

  • Australian Trek Ride Scrapped
Plans to build a $500 million dollar Paramount theme park in Melbourne, Australia were scrapped after investors withdrew following troubles in the building industry down under.
