Vulcans may be comfortable with intimate touching and non-erotic nudity, said Connor Trinneer, "but for Trip, there have to be elements of his feelings coming into play."

Speaking to Dreamwatch magazine (via Sci Fi Pulse), Trinneer discussed the relationship between Tucker and T'Pol as well as his feelings overall about the third season of Star Trek: Enterprise.

"I think it's complicated and I hope the writers continue that," he said of the developments between his character and Jolene Blalock's. "In the early episodes of season three, as far as we know, it's business as usual for T'Pol. She's just trying to help him out...[but] Trip is conscious of the amount of time they're spending together and it's not necessarily just to help him sleep."

"I think he's more intrigued by the relationship than he was initially," Trinneer added. "He finds it curious and unsettling." Vulcans, he said, may not have any issues with nudity, but the sensuality of the dynamic "has changed radically for the human."

The relationship reportedly will heat up during February sweeps when Trip initially begins to fall for a MACO officer.

Asked about his favorite episodes, Trinneer responded with two in which Tucker underwent major changes: "Unexpected", in which he is impregnated by an alien, and "Similitude", in which Dr. Phlox creates a clone of Tucker to generate organs to save the engineer's life.

He also noted that he would like to see the relationship between Malcolm Reed and Trip explored further.

Speaking of Dominic Keating, who plays Reed, Trinneer recounted a conversation in which Trinneer said that he was happy "to feel a bit of momentum" this season, "a different sense of momentum partly because there is a story arc that we are building on."

"Earlier this year, there was a lot of stuff written about the show not doing very well," he recalled. "I think every Star Trek show has had to...re-evaluate after a couple of years what exactly the show is going to be about."

As for how they are succeeding, "The franchise seems to have tightened its belt a couple of times and has been able to come out on top."

More comments by Trinneer are available in issue 113 of Dreamwatch, excerpted at Sci Fi Pulse.
