'Voyage Home' Special Edition DVD - courtesy Home Theatre Forum, copyright Paramount PicturesFollowing in the footsteps of the first three Trek feature films, 'Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home' will make its DVD debut on March 4, 2003.

The release will take the form of a two-disc Special Collector's Edition, StarTrek.com reported. The first disc will contain the original theatrical version of the film presented in widescreen format with Dolby Digital 5.1 surround sound. The cover image to the right was posted at the Home Theatre Forum, but the official site reported that the artwork has not yet been confirmed.

Two commentaries will accompany the film on disc one. The first is an audio commentary track by director Leonard Nimoy (Spock) and William Shatner (James T. Kirk), while the second is a text commentary provided by behind-the-scenes veterans Michael and Denise Okuda.

Disc two contains several new featurettes produced for the DVD, including 'Time Travel: The Art of the Possible,' 'The Language of Whales' and 'Kirk's Women.' The making of the movie is spotlighted in segments such as 'On Location,' 'Below-the-Line: Sound Design' and 'The Bird of Prey.' Archival interviews with Leonard Nimoy, William Shatner and DeForest Kelley (Leonard 'Bones' McCoy) are also included, along with storyboard and production galleries and the theatrical trailer.

The set carries a recommended retail price of $24.99. Further information is available here at StarTrek.com, while a larger version of the cover art can be found at the Home Theatre Forum. Thanks to 'Captain Joe' and Tim Haxton for this!
