Hello World!

Years of working in media have made me resistant to celebrity geekdom. I've met or interviewed many of my onetime acting and musical heroes, and most of them haven't lived up either to their hype or to how awesome I'd decided they must be. (There are a few exceptions - Nana Visitor, Jonathan Frakes and Louise Fletcher all amazed and inspired me.) So when my friends decide they're going to drive cross-country to see Kevin Spacey do Shakespeare or fly to London to see Daniel Radcliffe in Equus, usually with plans to hang out at the stage door and try to make eye contact or get an autograph, I generally giggle and wave to them.

But David Tennant and Patrick Stewart in Hamlet! There must be some way that I can afford to get to Stratford-upon-Avon next year! Okay, I'm being greedy: I saw Stewart here in D.C. in Othello several years back, and you'd think that should be enough. But no. I want to see Doctor Who and Captain Picard with the Royal Shakespeare Company! Do any of you nice readers out there own an airline, by any chance?
