Leonard Nimoy will be making an appearance Tuesday, January 6th, on William Shatner's Raw Nerve talk show.
As reported by The Shatner Project, Nimoy shares a story on tonight's Raw Nerve that he has never told anyone before. "He came out with a story he has never told anyone," said Shatner. "It was just there, lurking in some dusty corner of his mind. I sort of tickled it out of him...He was amazed he remembered, what it was he remembered. Fascinating story."
The preview of the Nimoy Raw Nerve interview included Nimoy's recollection of how his parents felt about him becoming an actor. "My parents were not the kind that were terribly encouraging," he said. "They did not want me to go off and be an actor," he said. "Their concept of what they wanted their children to take advantage of was a very American kind of...you go to high school, you get good grades, get into a good college, get good grades, become either a doctor, lawyer, or engineer, scientist...a dentist, a pharmacist, something where you can hang out a shingle and say...and make a living...so you have a secure life."
His father had some advice for the wannabe actor. "When I told my dad I want to be an actor," said Nimoy, "he said, 'You're going to be hanging around with gypsies and vagabonds.' And then he said to me, 'learn to play the accordion.' And he was serious. 'You can always make a living with an accordion.'"
On Raw Nerve, Nimoy's successes and lack of success as an actor and how he fought off the demons will be explored.
For those who are hoping to see footage of the show online, Shatner had this to say; "These conversations I have with people go on for an hour, hour and a half in some cases, and that extra footage may be, sometime later...Amy will let me use it. At the moment, it's part of 'Raw Nerve' and owned by 'Raw Nerve.'
