An unexpected trip to America's past awaits the intrepid crew of the Starship Farragut.

As reported at Starship Farragut, the second episode of the Starship Farragut titled For Want of a Nail has been completed and offered for download at the Starship Farragut website.

While on a mission to make first contact with the Solonai, an ancient race of scholars and historians, the crew have beamed down expecting to arrive in the Solonai Council Chamber. They discover that they have instead arrived in the distant past on planet Earth, location America.

"This has truly been a labor of love," said writer and director Mark Hildebrand. "We have created a story that stands on its own and will be enjoyed by everyone. There is a historic element to the adventure and we worked very hard to be accurate and respectful of the subject matter. Gene Roddenberry expected his audience to think and we are doing the same."

This is the second of the Starship Farragut episodes. The first, The Captaincy concerned the arrival of the new captain and his mission to discover a missing starship and a rogue Commodore. Next up, the third episode will be "Fathers and Sons", which should premiere in 2008.
