Bakula To Star As Firefighting Hero

Scott Bakula (Captain Archer) will star as a police investigator in Blue Smoke, a Lifetime original movie based on the bestselling novel by Nora Roberts.

Bakula joins a cast headed by Alicia Witt along with Matthew Settle and Talia Shire in this fourth Roberts movie for Lifetime, according to a press release at Yahoo.

Blue Smoke follows an arson investigator from childhood, when her family's restaurant is lost to a fire, into adulthood, when she works alongside the man who researched the fire and learned who was responsible. Witt plays Reena, with Settle as her lover and Bakula as the senior detective.

Bakula, notes the press release, earned a Golden Globe Award and four Emmy nominations when he starred on Quantum Leap and received a Tony Award nomination for the Broadway musical Romance Romance.

Roberts has 295 million books in print and has topped The New York Times bestseller list for 102 weeks. David Carson, who helmed Star Trek: Generations, will direct.
