Hello World!

I'm happy to announce to everyone who cares (not to mention everyone who doesn't) that I'm feeling much better today, made it to the 18th and even have a somewhat amusing story to tell out of it. I shall no tell you about it in great length.

We started off in true aussie style by heading to a pub - admittedly it was an Irish pub, but a pub nonetheless but, deciding the atmosphere stank (the place was *dead*, even for a Thursday) and the service was rather shoddy (a sour-faced barmaid who very nearly short-changed us) we vacated the premises in search of food, the more Italian the better. We found a nice little restaurant on James Street called 'VinoVinos' where the manager introduced himself to us (or, more accurately, accosted us as we were trying to check out the menu and prices) and then proceeded to offer everyone a free cocktail and 20% off our final bill. Who could say no to an offer like that? I had Cabonara, one of my favorite pasta dishes and it was divine... or, almost divine. My only regret was that I couldn't have one of the cocktails - being the designated driver can be a pain sometimes.

At any rate, from there we went to Pot Black and played pool for a couple of hours (I've got to say that playing pool against tipsy opponents is the way to go - I have no talent at it what-so-ever yet managed to beat the birthday girl and resident pool champion!).

After a few more drinks and an ice-cream we decided to call it a night (and this is the somewhat amusing anecdote coming up so beware!). Emily decided to flag down a cab for Elise to get home (she lives really too far away for me to drive and still have any gas left in the tank) so she stepped out onto the street and managed to attract the attention of not one but two cabbies. Who then proceeded to 'disagree' with each other at the top of their lungs in various languages on who should get the fare, with poor Elise standing in the middle of the road, unable to choose.

Then it started to rain.
