Hello World!

Julia Houston's latest About.com column takes the form of a 'Star Trek Personality Test,' in which your personality type is matched with one or more Star Trek characters. My results are provided below for your general amusement:

Myers-Briggs would say that you are an ENFJ (Extrovert, Intuitive, Feeler, Judger). In Star Trek language, you share a basic personality configuration with Deanna Troi and Jake Sisko.

People like you are generally highly empathic and easily hurt, particularly when people are disrespectful of your opinions. Your best friends are curious about how you feel and what you think. You have a well-structured personal philosophy and enjoy sharing your views and learning from others'. You're creative and original, and when you have your facts straight you can come easily and quickly to a decision.

You're friendly and affectionate, articulate and and outgoing. You're very tactful, which is good, as you like to ask personal questions.

You're organized and responsive. As long as your social needs are met, you're productive. You dislike messy environments and generally like to keep things in order. You cannot stand unresolved issues in a relationship.

Your primary goal in life is harmonious relationships with others. Your reward is truly communicating your ideas and seeing your relationships last.

Good careers for your type include being a therapist, magazine editor, corporate trainer, fund raiser, TV producer, holistic health practitioner, marketing executive, and writer.

I had no idea I was so 'touchy-feely.' You can take the test here.

Trek Two Years Ago

These were some of the major news headlines on August 6th, 1999:

  • Even More Seven In Six
SFX Magazine reported that Voyager's sixth season would feature another healthy dose of Seven of Nine episodes. "It's like we're working on a movie, not a six year old TV series" an insider told the magazine. "It seems now that with just one trek show on the go, Paramount are ploughing a lot of effort - and money - into Voyager. [...] More certain is that we'll be seeing a re-borgified Seven of nine, and Jeri Ryan in a lot more leather. In fact, it seems the producers are going to moving Seven even more centre stage." The "re-borgified" Seven of Nine appeared in the episode 'Survival Instinct.'

  • Fantasticon Convention Report
The official site posted a report on the Fantasticon Convention, held in Los Angeles. "I always want it to be where the actors are accessible," stated organiser William Campbell. "The important thing for me is that the fans who come and the stars who appear have a good time, and also that they feel good about themselves having been here."
