Nana Visitor (Kira Nerys) and Robert Duncan McNeill (Tom Paris) and many other Trek and sci fi stars were on hand for a Slanted Fedora convention in Indianapolis, Indiana last weekend.

TrekBBS member Ted "Dixon Hill" Deverick, who attended the entire convention, reported on both Saturday and Sunday's guests. On Saturday, Nana Visitor took the stage to talk about Deep Space Nine. She told the audience that she believed that were DS9 being filmed today, it wouldn't be aired because of the terrorist attacks of the last few years. She took questions about her current projects and her family, and also sang "Fever" on request.

At the Slanted Fedora dinner event Saturday night, Trek fans Lillian Habeck and Andy Sams were married. The couple moved up their planned Valentine's Day 2004 wedding when Sams, a member of the Army Reserves, received notice that he would be leaving shortly for a tour of duty in Iraq. Vaughn Armstrong (Admiral Forrest) and McNeill gave the bride away.

The evening's theatre event featured McNeill's reading of NPR commentator David Sedaris's The SantaLand Diaries. Sedaris's piece is a recounting of his experiences working as an elf at Macy's department store. A round of Klingon Karaoke finished off the night.

On Sunday, Casey Biggs (Damar) told the crowd that he was currently directing a production of MacBeth. He also spoke about both his character's development during the latter half of DS9's run, and his eventual death.

McNeill took the stage next, and he reported that he did not have time to film any interviews for the upcoming Voyager DVD sets. He also discussed his character in the series, his directing career, and biking for charity.

More information on the convention can be found at Slanted Fedora. Thanks to Ted Deverick for this report!
