Trek Two Years Ago
These were some of the major news headlines on November 5, 1999:
- Paramount Shoots Down Series V Concept
It was reported that Paramount rejected a 'Birth Of The Federation' concept for Series V pitched by producers Rick Berman and Brannon Braga - apparently the second premise the studio had rejected. However, a 'prequel' concept did eventually come to fruition, as evidenced by Enterprise, which is currently airing on UPN. - Universe 'Pathfinder' Info
New information about Voyager's upcoming 'Pathfinder' made its way to the Internet. As it turned out, this information was correct:Basically, Barclay comes up with a way to create a micro wormhole to talk to Voyager. The conversation is brief, but does happen. The story opens with Barclay well on his way to being a complete nutboy. He calls Troi to come counsel him because he's falling apart mentally (what a surprise). He has become obsessed with Voyager, and begins living on the Holodeck, spending time with Holo-recreations of the crew, etc. Admiral Paris makes and appearence and gets a message to Tom.
- Viacom Happy With UPN Ratings
Viacom chief Sumner Redstone spoke positively about UPN's viewership. "For the first time, we are challenging the WB," he said. "I can't tell you how pleased we are."More threads can be found in the archives.
