Star Trek: Enterprise co-creator Brannon Braga's new pilot, Threshold, has finished shooting and the producers are now waiting to hear whether CBS will pick up the series for the fall.

Sci Fi Wire has obtained an internal document which reveals the basic plot of the pilot, whose cast includes Star Trek's Brent Spiner (Data), Karen Cisco's Carla Gugino, Gothika's Charles S. Dutton, House of Wax's Brian Van Holt and Lost's William Mapother. The series is produced by Blade writer David S. Goyer and Harry Potter producer David Heyman along with Braga and others.

Threshold reportedly begins when a spacecraft found in the ocean is determined to be of extraterrestrial origin. Gugino plays a physician who formerly worked for NASA who is summoned for a potential first contact along with a team of scientists and spies. The group implements Operation: Threshold, which is responsible for discovering the reason aliens have landed on Earth and what has become of the crew. The group also must prepare for the possible eventuality of an alien invasion.

Braga said that he is waiting to hear from CBS about the status of the series that could emerge from this pilot. "We've finished it, and we're waiting to hear what happens. I don't want to jinx it, though," he said. "It's contemporary sci fi about aliens amongst us. But more emphasis on the psychological suspense and less emphasis on the effects-heavy type of genre piece."

The original interview, conducted at the Saturn Awards, is at Sci Fi Wire.
