Hello World!

Well, the summer is starting again - yesterday Dutch TV aired the season finale of 'The Practice,' one of my favourite shows. I'll now really have to try to restrain myself not to go out and read spoilers for the next season - we're two years behind here in the Netherlands, so there's bound to be lots of info on the web. What I cannot understand, however, is why the station didn't just go on showing next season's episodes, instead of waiting until October. With two season already in the can, if they started showing new episodes now it would take them close to two years to catch up with the US - surely I wouldn't be the only one who would like to see that?

Trek Two Years Ago

Below are some of the most important headlines that appeared on TrekToday on the 4th of May, 2001 (yes, there was a slight mix-up yesterday):

  • Babylon 5 Creator Criticizes DS9 - A minor scandal erupted as Babylon 5 creator posted about Deep Space Nine in his newsgroup: "We began trying to sell the B5 series to everyone in town, including Paramount, 5 years prior to getting a Go order. The B5 series was announced in early November of that year. There was NO set ST series by that point. Over the following Christmas weekend, I got a phone call from someone very closely involved with Trek, who said, 'They just decided what the new Trek show is going to be. It's about a space station that's a center of commerce, with a travel gate nearby.'"

  • Official Word On 'Relativity' - Paramount released the official synopsis for the then-upcoming 'Relativity:' "Captain Braxton of the 29th-century Timeship Relativity contacts Seven of Nine as part of an investigation into the eventual destruction of Voyager in a mystery that spans five centuries."

  • Hello World! - And also on this day, we first received a 1000 visitors in a single day.
