'Renaissance Man' - copyright Paramount Pictures The main story of 'Renaissance Man,' the final regular Voyager episode before the finale, won't have many elements specifically designed to wrap up the series' story. However, the episode will still be very important for the question of the ship's eventual homecoming, as according to a new synopsis it will deal with the only part of Voyager even capable of bringing the ship closer to home.

As part of its new feature on the season finales of all network television series, TV Guide just released the following synopsis for 'Renaissance Man:'

Janeway stuns Chakotay by caving in to a ransom demand. Upon her return from a deep-space mission, Janeway startles Chakotay with her plans to hand over the ship's warp core — the key to Voyager's interstellar travel capacity — to the R'Kaal collective. The captain's willingness to part with such a crucial piece of Voyager's technology without a fight disturbs Chakotay, who turns to the Doctor for help. The hologram insists that Janeway is mentally sound. Chakotay, though, remains skeptical, and soon has even more reason to question her actions.

As previously reported, 'Renaissance Man' will feature guest appearances by long-time recurring Voyager characters Vorik and Ayala. The episode was written by Phyllis Strong & Mike Sussman from a story by Andrew Shepard Price & Mark Gaberman, and was directed by Mike Vejar. It is set to air less than two weeks from now, on Wednesday the 16th of May.

Thanks go out to Doug Wilson at the Deep Space Nine Horizons campaign for this!
