  • Will Dunham at Reuters is reporting about a group of researchers at the University of St. Andrews in Fife, Scotland, who say they have developed a kind of mini-tractor beam, using specialised lasers to spin around objects without making physical contact.

  • StarTrek.com reports that Whoopi Goldberg (Guinan) will be honoured with the Mark Twain Prize for Humor this October. Goldberg appeared opposite a fictional Mark Twain in the TNG episode 'Time's Arrow.'

  • Psi Phi's list of Trek book editors has been updated, listing exactly which editor is attached to which upcoming Star Trek book.

  • According to a post at TrekWeb's message boards, Wil Wheaton (Wesley Crusher) called in to yesterday's edition of the 'Call for Help' show on the TechTV channel. Apparently, the former TNG star wanted to upgrade to a DSL line and wanted advice on a good small company to help him with that, as he did not want to support any big corporations.

  • Decipher has posted a list of card foils that will be distributed over the coming months as prizes for Star Trek Customisable Card Game Tournaments.

  • The Mile High Comics Store has posted a three-page preview of the upcoming TNG/DS9 cross-over comic, 'Star Trek: Divided We Fall.' Thanks go out to TrekWeb.

  • The SF Site has launched a new column by Scott Danielson, entitled 'Vox: SF For Your Ears'. In the first installment, Danielson presents his five favourite Star Trek audiobooks.

  • Meanwhile, Audible sends along word that they have launched a new introductory offer allowing new customers to download any one of their hundreds of science fiction audiobooks (including most of the Trek audiobooks on Danielson's list) for only $1.95.
