Hello World!

You'd think that after having a break from writing this column for several days, I'd be able to come up with something interesting to say… Oh well.

It's admittedly been an interesting few days – aside from my regular dose of ISP problems, my New Years eve got kicked off when a woman backed into my car down at the local supermarket parking lot. The damage wasn't that bad, she was insured and no-one was hurt, so things looked ok… until Tuesday when we got a call from our insurance company telling us the woman now claimed that it was *me* who backed into her. Odd, really, considering I had my foot quite firmly on the breaks at the time and beeped my horn at her when I realised she was coming straight for me. But anyway, it now looks as though, since there were no witnesses, it'll come down to a case of her word against mine – and I wonder which party they'll believe – she, the 40 or so mother or me, the driver with less than 3 years experience and one previous accident to her record. However, I hope they'll realise when we get the car quotes it that it was actually her fault – the damage to my car is rather more severe than to hers and I seem to recall something about the faster your car is going in a collision, the less damage it will sustain. I could be wrong, of course. Hope everyone else had a better new years and welcome to the new milenwhatsit.

In other news, the public seems to have ruled regarding our recent polls – and I do admit I agree to some extent – so there shan't be any more 'shipper polls for a while. So, on the upside, you'll be spared polls such as the last one, which prompted several complaints about unsuitability (ok, it *was* in bad taste but I couldn't think of anything better). On the downside, however, for me at least, this means I've actually got to put some thought into them. Which means that suggestions for polls are more than welcome – if you have an idea for one, mail me. Please!.
