Bethesda Softworks is shipping its first Star Trek game, Star Trek: Encounters for PlayStation 2, and has announced release dates for Star Trek: Legacy and Star Trek: Tactical Assault.

The company, which is in the Washington DC area, will ship Tactical Assault for PlayStation and the Nintendo DS on October 24th and Legacy for Windows and Xbox 360 on November 7th, writes Washington Business Journal.

In addition, IGN is reporting that all three games will be scored by Rod Abernethy and Jason Graves, who wrote scores for the games Blazing Angels and The Hobbit. The pair write 60-minutes of symphonic music for Legacy, which also features the voices of all five Star Trek captains - William Shatner (Kirk), Patrick Stewart (Picard), Avery Brooks (Sisko), Kate Mulgrew (Janeway) and Scott Bakula (Archer).

TrekCore.com is hosting three giveaways for the new games, with prizes including Nintendo DS and PSP copies of Tactical Assault plus a Legacy poster signed by the developers at Mad Doc Software. Details are here.

The Star Trek Gaming Universe has posted an interview with Cory Nelson, one of the developers of Tactical Assault. The interview can be found here, while renders of some of the ships featured in Legacy have been posted at the same site here.

In addition, a new web site, Legacy Universe, dedicated to modding Star Trek: Legacy, is now open. The site is run by modders for Star Trek: Bridge Commander, Star Trek: Starfleet Command and the Armada series.

Amazon.com is now accepting orders for all three games: Encounters, Legacy and Tactical Assault.
