Rick Berman is recruiting staff for his television production company, tapping a former Jim Hensen Television vice president to become his director of development.

Variety reported that Ellie Hannibal has beamed aboard Berman's team, serving as senior VP of Rick Berman Productions. A former developer of Karen Sisco at ABC, Hannibal also helped develop Comedy Central's Reno 911!. Before that, she, like Berman, was involved in science fiction, working at Henson on Farscape.

As senior VP, Hannibal will collaborate with Berman to develop concepts for series television programming. The former Star Trek: The Next Generation, Deep Space Nine, Voyager and Enterprise executive producer has an eight-figure contract with Paramount.

This is the first development season since Star Trek left broadcast television. Berman has had writing as well as production credits on the Star Trek shows and feature films. Previously he produced the TV series The Big Blue Marble.
