Eugene Roddenberry, Jr., son of Star Trek creator Gene Roddenberry and actor-producer Majel Barrett Roddenberry, has joined the fan revival project Star Trek: New Voyages as an executive producer.

The New Voyages web site announced the news, stating, "Rod said to us that he felt New Voyages was a wonderful representation of his father's vision for Trek. Because of that, he and the Roddenberry family have decided to give New Voyages their support."

Roddenberry had contacted the site, said producer Jack Marshall, offering his insights and eventually accepting a place on the production team, which will take him on location during the filming of the second episode.

Calling Roddenberry "instrumental in tweaking the second script", Marshall said he was pleased to welcome him "into the universe created by his father."
