Hello World!

This is probably going to sound like blasphemy to many of you, but I've decided the best show on television right now is not Voyager. The West Wing is. So far I've only seen the six episodes that have aired here in the Netherlands, but already I feel like I know these people as well as I did most of the regulars on the four Star Trek series after several seasons. I love the breakneck speed at which the show moves, the humour they manage to insert, and the enourmous sense of urgency it always gets across. But most important is that, somehow, the 'West Wing' manages to look a lot more modern than Star Trek usually does. I don't know why exactly this is - maybe it's because modern Trek still originates from the 1980s, but the camera and colour work on West Wing just gives a much more advanced impression. I'm really happy I don't live in the United States, where I'd have to choose between Voyager and West Wing - Voyager probably wouldn't win.
