Hello World!

Just a short 'Hello World!' today - I was going to tell you all sorts of inconsequential yet witty little things that I experienced this weekend so far, but then I received the info for the news story I'm about to post in a few minutes, and then I suddenly forgot about every single thing I wanted to mention here. Funny how that works.

Trek Two Years Ago

Below are some of the headlines that appeared on TrekToday on the 3rd of March, 2001:

  • Happy Birthday James Doohan! - Two years ago we reported Doohan turned 69, which makes him turning 81 today a pretty amazing feat. Actually I couldn't count.

  • Strange New Worlds III Officially Announced - John Ordover, Senior Editor at Pocket Books, officially declared the Strange New World fan story contest open. Since then, a fourth installment has of course also already come and gone.

  • Today On TV - UPN aired 'Course: Oblivion', the follow-up to 'Demon'. "Lieutenants Tom Paris and B'Elanna Torres tie the knot but their holographic honeymoon is cut short by a phenomenon that breaks down the U.S.S. Voyager's infrastructure and disintegrates not only the ship but the crew."

Happy Birthday!

Today is the 81st birthday of James Doohan, who appeared on the Original Series as Montgomery Scott. He and his wife Wende, who is 43, became parents last year to a girl named Sarah.
