'TNG Season 5 DVD set' photo - courtesy Amazon.com, copyright Paramount Pictures Paramount Pictures recently released information on the specifications for the final three Next Generation DVD sets.

The season five box set, containing episodes such as 'Unification, Parts I and II,' 'Cause and Effect,' and the Hugo Award-winning 'The Inner Light,' will be released in North America on November 5. The package also contains a special tribute to Star Trek creator Gene Roddenberry, who died during production of the fifth season.

  • Mission Overview: Cast and crew discuss memorable moments from season five, including Leonard Nimoy's (Spock) guest appearance in 'Unification' and Denise Crosby's (Tasha Yar) return to the series as the Romulan Sela.
  • Departmental Briefing - Production: Director Peter Lauritson on helming 'The Inner Light'; make-up guru Michael Westmore talks creating Patrick Stewart's (Jean-Luc Picard) old-age look for 'The Inner Light'; Michael Piller on writing 'Time's Arrow.'
  • Departmental Briefing - Visual Effects: Dan Curry and Rob Legato recall season five's VFX challenges.
  • Memorable Missions: Cast and crew talk their favourite episodes.
  • A Tribute To Gene Roddenberry: Features interviews with widow Majel Barrett (Lwaxana Troi), the TNG cast and crew, and the Great Bird of the Galaxy himself, as well as the dedication of the Gene Roddenberry building.

The season six package, to be released a month later on December 3, contains 'Mission Overview' and 'Departmental Briefing' featurettes with interviews pertaining to the sixth season, as well as profiles on Lt. Commander Data and special effects wizard Dan Curry. Also included is a documentary entitled 'Bold New Directions.'

Last but not least, TNG's seventh and final season, which received an Emmy nomination for Best Drama Series, will hit stores on December 31. In addition to the full 26-episode season and the regular extra features, the DVD set includes three additional documentaries - 'A Captain's Tribute,' 'The Making of "All Good Things",' and 'Starfleet Moments and Memories.'
