Report Claims Shatner, Paramount Close To Deal

Sources have reported that Paramount and William Shatner are near to inking a deal that would bring the Captain Kirk actor to Star Trek: Enterprise for a guest appearance this season.

Moviehole has reported that Shatner and Paramount have negotiated successfully and are near to an announcement "pretty soon" that Shatner will reprise the role of James T. Kirk "for an unspecified number of Enterprise episodes for 2005."

Both the actor and the studio have suggested that Shatner's salary demands were the sticking point in earlier discussions. Shatner had joked to TV Guide after his Emmy win that when he named a price, Paramount balked.

It "looks like [he]'s getting what he wants" now, reported Moviehole's insider, who noted that the studio believes the actor will raise the show's ratings "and has had to dig deep to see that that happens."

For more, including a rumour that Jonathan Frakes is under consideration to direct the eleventh Star Trek feature film - reportedly a prequel - see the original article at Moviehole.
