'Starship Exeter' Releases New Episode Teaser

The producers of the Starship Exeter fan film series last Friday released the first of five parts of their second episode, "The Tressaurian Intersection."

Like Star Trek: New Voyages, Exeter is set in the era of the original Star Trek series, but it is not a remake. Instead, the series chronicles the adventures of the crew of the Constitution-class starship U.S.S. Exeter, commanded by Captain John Quincy Garrovick. Other crew members include the female first officer Jo Harris, and an Andorian communications officer named B'Fuselek.

In "The Tressaurian Intersection," the Exeter investigates the disappearence of the starship Kongo and the destruction of a Starbase -- apparently at the hands of hostile aliens whom Exeter's Captain Garrovick blames for a past personal tragedy. The episode was written by Dennis Russell Bailey, who also co-wrote the Next Generation episodes "Tin Man" and "First Contact."

The episode was produced over a three-year period by a crew of more than a hundred people. Most of the filming took place at Austin Studios, where the William Shatner (James T. Kirk) film Miss Congeniality was also partially filmed. "The Tressaurian Intersection" is the follow-up to "The Savage Empire," which was released in December 2002, and turned out to be so popular that it led to the fan film group's server briefly collapsing.

Perhaps in order to prevent this from happening again, the one-hour episode "The Tressaurian Intersection" is being released in five separate parts. To download the episode teaser, head over to StarshipExeter.com. The remaining four parts will be made available for download over the next several weeks.
