Ashley Judd Signs On As Catwoman

Ashley Judd has signed on to star as Catwoman, in a film by the same name, Variety reported today. Judd played Ensign Robin Lefler in two TNG episodes, and the character went on to feature in the New Frontier book range.

Judd signed on last week for the film, being developed by Warner Bros., and it's being fast tracked for production before the pending writers and actors strikes. Apparently the film "will be a dark, stylistic noir" reported E! Online, in the style of the first two 'Batman' films directed by Tim Burton. Warner Bros. hopes the film will be successful and lead to sequels.

Judd is also currently riding high in the US box office with her film 'Someone Like You' (originally titled 'Animal Husbandry') taking the #2 slot. It took $10.3 million on its opening weekend, being beaten only by 'Spy Kids' with a clear lead, taking in $27m.

Her latest role is one of many recent successes. She saw her income per movie rocket after the success of 'Double Jeopardy', got to present an award at the latest Oscars and ranked highly in a bizarre poll. After the Oscars, in a US nationwide poll, Judd came in second of people that would look beautiful — even if they were bald! She also made an appearance on the MTV show 'Request Live' last Thursday.
