Stewart Says Paramount May Bring Back Picard

In the wake of the poor box office performance of Star Trek Nemesis, Patrick Stewart repeatedly said that he would not play Captain Picard again (story). Now, however, he may be singing a different tune.

SFX reported that while at a press launch for his new series Eleventh Hour, Stewart made an appearance and mentioned that there have been meetings about a possible new Next Generation film.

Stewart stated that he believes the meetings are serious and indicated that there are potential investors in a film in which he might appear. However, he is committed to work with the Royal Shakespeare Company for the next sixteen months, so he would be unavailable for filming for at least that long.

Eleventh Hour will be broadcast on ITV in January. Stewart's X-Men 3 is scheduled to open in May of 2006; he spoke (and "was very defensive") about new director Brett Ratner at the press conference.
