A familiar face from Star Trek will appear on television's number one ranked show, CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, this Thursday night.

Jeffrey Combs (Shran, Enterprise; Weyoun and Brunt, Deep Space Nine) appears in the episode "Jackpot", set in the town in Nevada for which the episode is named, according to a synopsis from CSI Files.

When a dog digs up a severed head, pathologist Gil Grissom (William L. Petersen)'s investigation leads him to suspect murder.

Unfortunately, the town sheriff is unhelpful, everyone in the local bar has a differing opinion on why the head turned up severed from a body and the victim's college roommate claims not to know a thing.

To make matters worse, someone breaks into Grissom's car and steals his evidence kit.

Meanwhile, Catherine Willows (Marg Helgenberger) is surprised by an unwelcome present from her father, which inspires her to visit him.

The episode was written by CSI executive producer Carol Mendelsohn and co-executive producer Naren Shankar, who formerly served as science consultant on Star Trek: The Next Generation and wrote episodes of that show, Deep Space Nine and Voyager.

Wallace Langham, who has a recurring role on CSI as lab tech David Hodges, played Flotter in the Voyager episode "Once Upon a Time."
