Star Trek: Enterprise writer Mike Sussman, who developed the Mirror Universe storyline for the 'In a Mirror, Darkly' episodes, will write an Enterprise story for Pocket Books' planned Mirror Universe duology which will include stories from all five Star Trek television series as well as the New Frontier novels.

Editor Margaret Clark hinted on the TrekBBS that Sussman might be lured into talking about the story, leading to a post by Sussman in which he explained that a conversation about the abrupt ending inspired him to want to tell the end of the Enterprise Mirror Universe story.

"A few months ago, I had some friends over to watch both parts of 'In a Mirror, Darkly' and their reaction at the end was...'What? It's over?'" explained Sussman. "Guess I felt a little guilty about the cliffhanger aspect. So I'm happy that I can wrap up the story. The truth is, I like keeping my foot in the door of the Trek universe."

Sussman, who is now a writer for Brannon Braga's Threshold on CBS, thanked Clark for contacting him about the Star Trek project. "Fortunately the lead times in publishing are much longer than what I'm accustomed to in TV," he noted. "I'll be able to write the Enterprise story over hiatus."

Clark explained that the two Mirror Universe books would be trade paperbacks, with the original series, Next Generation and Enterprise stories edited by herself while Marco Palmieri will edit the Deep Space Nine, Voyager and New Frontier contributions.

The books are not slated for publication until 2007. The original post may be found at the TrekBBS.
